Given our history and origins as a private athletic club, it’s no surprise that we take active life pretty seriously. Our version of wellness extends far beyond a hotel gym – though we have to say our 24/7 vintage-inspired space (complete with Peloton bikes) is pretty special.
An active lifestyle is in our DNA and one we embody throughout the year, especially during these colder months when keeping those endorphins up is key. Forget the treadmill and join one of our active and athletic winter activities on your next visit. There’s no reason breaking a sweat can’t be fun too, right?
Lululemon Winter Series
February 24 and March 7
We’re pumped about partnering up with lululemon this winter for a signature series that will incorporate special guests, live music, giveaways and more. Hosted both under our roof as well as the exciting experiential lululemon store in Lincoln Park, these are not your typical yoga classes.
On February 24 from 6 to 8pm, we meet at lululemon to flex our creative muscles with Taylor Morrison, founder of Inner Workout and Kelly Maher, life coach, meditation teacher and acupuncturist extraordinaire. Taylor will kick things off with a journaling practice to reconnect to your own creativity, followed by a sound bath led by Kelly to tap deeper into yourself.
Sip on a smoothie from lulu’s Fuel Space while you discuss how exercise and meditation affect creative thinking and idea generation. You may even spark a bright new idea of your own!
Then, on March 7 from 5:30 to 7:30pm, climb high above the city at Cindy’s Rooftop for a (21+) Steel Mace and Sabering event led by lululemon ambassador, Jaq Howard. Build your strength and conditioning utilizing the unique steel mace, a training technique that emphasizes symmetry while hitting every plane of movement. Post-workout, head to the Cindy’s terrace and learn how to saber your own bottle of sparkling wine thanks to our friends at Dreyfus, Ashby & Co.
Through April 10
Our Tank space plays host to one of America’s fastest growing sports this winter – Pickleball. Why Pickleball? It’s easy to learn, fun and by nature it’s socially-distanced. A perfect COVID-era group activity, Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis for a game that is equal parts entertaining and sweat-inducing.
In partnership with the Chicago Sport & Social Club, join us Mondays-Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30pm for both double and singles games. (You can sign up here with CSSC.) Staying with us when there’s not a game going on? Our guests are free to use the court at their leisure when the league isn’t in session.
Not interested in pickle-balling back and forth? On game night, we’ll also have cornhole set up along the perimeter of The Tank.
Fitness Class Roller Dance
A CAA favorite, our Roller Dance Fitness Classes are the most fun you can have while grooving and moving on wheels. Our February 20 class is sold out but follow along with all our current events as we continue to host these throughout the year.
Community Partner: League Of Their Own
In addition to our slate of ever-evolving events, we keep great active company of course. In the fall of 2021 we met Paige, founder of a League of Their Own (#LOTO), and the rest is history. #LOTO makes it their mission to spark inspiration, raise healthy awareness and connect women from all backgrounds in a fun and healthy way through sports and wellness, including weekly “meet-ups” and events throughout the year.
We’ve partnered with #LOTO on everything from basketball and roller skating to Pilates. Follow along @leagueoftheirownchi to find out when class will next be session at CAA.
