Chicago Athletic Association hotel and Refine Collective have partnered to present several products from local businesses owned by People of Color. Refine Collective is a digital community that makes it easy to identify and support minority-owned businesses and freelancers, with a mission to funnel purchasing power into the hands of the underrepresented.
IB Majekodunmi is the founder of Refine Collective. Launched in May 2020, Refine Collective is a community that makes it easy to identify and support minority and women-owned businesses with a mission to funnel purchasing power into the hands of the underrepresented.
What started as a passion project to create an online directory to support her favorite businesses because IB was curious about why her neighbors were consistently choosing Starbucks over her favorite local coffee shop has blossomed into a hub for the entrepreneurs in our community and folks who want to support them. In less than two years, Refine Collective has grown to an online directory of over 1,400 women & minority-owned small businesses, a resource sharing network, and a touring vendor market funneling over $75,000 back into the hands of the underrepresented, and so much more.
IB is a freelance project manager, a self-proclaimed bibliophile, and a retired-yet-thriving dancer outside of her work with Refine Collective. She is extremely passionate about all-things Chicago and all-things community, so most of her free time is spent gallivanting around the city with her loved ones!
