AUGUST 2019 — With back to school right around the corner, now is the time to savor the end of sweet Chicago summertime. Whether right in our backyard or just across town, here are our top festivals and event picks to finish August with a bang:

60th Annual Air & Water Show 2019
Grab your blanket and head to the beach to experience the 60th annual air and water show – you’ll see gravity-defying demos by boat, plane, diving, and parachute teams. If you find yourself downtown for the show, come visit us at Cindy’s and enjoy the Paper Plane featured cocktail devised just for the weekend of the show.
Where: The lakefront from North Avenue Beach to Navy Pier

41st Annual Chicago Jazz Festival
To celebrate the musical renaissance Chicago experienced in the early 1900’s, the city explodes with free jazz concerts for two weeks in the end of August. These shows feature the best jazz artists from Chicago and around the world – listeners can boogie to the music while enjoying refreshments on the lawn.

Shedd After Hours: House Party
An alternative to the popular Jazzin’ at the Shedd event series, Shedd After Hours invites guests to wade through exhibits featuring your favorite sea life while enjoying cocktails and live DJ sets.

Taste of Greektown 2019
YAMAS! Toast the third largest Greek population in the U.S. with this foodie festival full of lively Greek bands and dance groups, flaming saganaki, spit-roasted chicken, and by-the-bottle Greek wine.

Chicago Philharmonic at the Zoo
For one night only, the Lincoln Park Zoo hosts the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra for a 90-minute program featuring live classical music billowing throughout the zoo. Guests can listen to the ensemble while enjoying refreshments and visiting with zoo residents.
